What's Cheery in the Garden Today?

Indian Summer Blooms! As today is the first day of October, you may expect to only see pumpkins and mums in the garden. But, there are some summer flowers that are loaded with blooms this week:

Perhaps I'm not a very skilled gardener, because it's usually the run of the mill plants that produce best for me (in the ground like these pics and in containers), and certainly that provide loads of color this time of year.

Don't you love it when blooms start to take on the hues of autumn like this hydrangea?

As Minnie Aumonier famously said, "When the world wearies, and society ceases to satisfy, there is always the Garden"

Hope you're enjoying your garden this week, but not because you're tired of the world!

  1. Oh yes, we too are having a bit of an encore here with our plants. I've got tons of cosmos coming up...thankfully they are the orangy ones, so they look pretty good now and appropriately "fallish". Next summer the show should be great with all the new seedlings. I'll get some mums going before too long. Good luck with the garden!
